MIDLAND
’S SUPERINTENDENTS’ AGREEMENT

ON HIRING PERSONNEL

"The school districts of Lexington, Richland, Calhoun, Fairfield, and Kershaw counties, and schools located at Ft. Stewart/Ft. Jackson have agreed that teachers under contract will be considered for release during April 15 and May 31, 2008, only if a suitable replacement can be found.  All school districts of Lexington, Richland, Calhoun, Fairfield, and Kershaw counties and schools located at Ft. Stewart/Ft. Jackson have also agreed that no teacher can be interviewed or offered a contract if they are already under contract after May 31, 2008.  Exceptions to this agreement include employees currently under contract that will receive a promotion, i.e., teacher to administrator; administrative assistant to assistant principal; or assistant principal to principal; etc.  In such cases the two superintendents of the affected districts will discuss such possibilities as warranted.

Employees leaving the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) or employees of the school districts listed above who wish to be hired by DJJ at any time during the year are required to have the permission of the superintendent of DJJ and the superintendent of the other district. This is necessary because DJJ employees are not bound by an annual contract and are able to leave their employment at anytime with only a two week notice."
